Uganda Cranes were on Wednesday afternoon held to a 1-1 draw by visitors Niger in a second group F match hosted at Kitende stadium in Wakiso district.
This comes after Uganda were swept away 2-0 by a dominant Algeria on Saturday, just an hour after Niger were held to a 1-1 draw by visitors Tanzania in Benin.
The result means Uganda sit bottom with one point while Niger are second with two points after two games played. Algeria are the table leaders with three points.
A win was a must for the Cranes against the West African nation to restore confidence and belief that they can qualify.
The meeting in the 2023 Afcon qualifiers marked only the third time the two nations clash in the competition.
